Dr. Rhoda Gottfried
Dr. Gottfried’s telepsychiatry practice is for those who are interested in health and healing from mental illness. Dr. Gottfried started her professional career as a clinical dietitian. She graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Food Nutrition and Foodservice Management. She did her dietetic internship with Andrews University and Kettering Medical Center in Michigan and Ohio respectively. She worked for 3 years as a clinical dietitian and then she went to medical school. She graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School in California and did general psychiatry at Loma Linda University as well. She then trained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. After her fellowship she joined the faculty of Johns Hopkins for a couple of years doing clinical and research activities. Dr. Gottfried has since worked in community settings seeing a variety of patients of all ages with various mental health problems. She specializes in integrating her nutrition knowledge into the healing of mental disorders. She does prescribe medications when indicated but tries to work towards the goal, when appropriate, of minimizing medications in accordance with each individual patient’s condition and personal preferences. She can provide ongoing treatment including psychotherapy as well as consultation as needed.
